The PAWZ by the Sea 5k Run/Walk, Kids Run and NEW 10K Run/Walk is presented by Animal Hospital by the Sea in collaboration with Langley Main Street Association. The 2016 event benefits Happy Hounds 4H Club and Good Cheer Pet Food Bank.

Join us for the 3rd annual PAWZ by the Sea 5k Run/Walk and Kids Run and introducing our new 10K Run/Walk on Monday, Memorial Day, 2016 at 9am. The event takes place on 2nd Street in Langley, Washington, on beautiful Whidbey Island.

Dogs on leash welcome

All runners are encouraged to attend, including those on four legs (as long as they also bring a leash, 6 ft. max, no flexi leashes please).

Timing

The PAWZ by the Sea 5K will be timed using the Chronotrack Timing system. Results will be posted online by Tuesday.

Awards & Prizes

Awards will be given to the top 10 women, men and dogs. Random prizes will be given out for such feats as most drool, shortest legs, biggest eyes, most active tail and more.

Shirts & Goody Bags

Race goodies will be handed out at the finish line. Humans will receive shirts and goody bags. Dogs will receive bandanas, treats and water.

Volunteers

PAWZ volunteers will also receive goody bags and official volunteer shirts.

Open House

There will be an open house at Animal Hospital by the Sea after the race with music and root beer.


THE 5K COURSE

The 5k (3.1 mile) course loops around Langley, starting and ending in downtown Langley next to Animal Hospital by the Sea at 114 Second St.

THE 10K COURSE

The 10k (6.2 mile) course loops around Langley, starting and ending in downtown Langley next to Animal Hospital by the Sea at 114 Second St.

THE KIDS FUN RUN

The Kids Fun Run is an out and back run from the start line on 2nd street to the Langley Pizzeria on 1st Street. Kids have the option of doing a 1/4 mile (to the Pizzeria and back) a 1/2 mile (to 1st & Anthes and back) or running a full mile (up to 1st & DeBruyn and back).

Kids participating with a dog need to have a parent or guardian running with them.

Happy Hounds 4-H Club

4-H is in the business of growing kids! We do this by working in our community to offer a wide range of opportunities for K-12 youth. Our goal is to support kids as they discover their talents and interests and then provide them with experiences to help them deepen, strengthen and use those talents and interests!

Good Cheer Food Bank

Good Cheer is a community grassroots charity that has been helping neighbors in need on the south end of Whidbey Island since 1962. Over the decades, this nonprofit organization 501(c)3 organization has grown into a model Food Bank, supported chiefly by proceeds from its two thrift stores.
